I left the fishin hole one day last week and there was a week old fawn layin in the road.. just 30 ft in front of the truck.. I thought it was injured or worse.. I got out and walked up to it and as soon as I spoke it bolted.. I guess it was catchin a catnap while I was catchin catfish.. ? Lol

The picture is actually a screen shot from a video I took of the event but my phone wouldn't attach the video to the post.... It was then it occurred to me, even after all these years on here, I have no idea how to attach a video!!

My brother and I actually picked one up a few years ago that was floating down the river. The river was at flood stage and it was losing headway fast with no mom in sight. DNR usually doesn't want to bother with orphans anymore so we ferried it to the nearest bank. We waited until it could stand on its own and left, hoping for the best. That one was extremely young, couldn't have weighed 10 pounds max.

…although, venison from an elk calf was the best I’ve ever had. If you could tell it from veal you have better taste buds than I do.
