Here is the first catfish I have caught that was not small. I caught this at the Saline County fishing lake on 6-7-09 using shrimp and a bobber less than 6 feet from the edge of the lake. Of course I had spent hours fishing before this happened. It was exciting to me as a new fisher-person. I wasn't even trying for catfish at the time! Shortly after that I caught another. And then another! I had run out of shrimp and resorted to a piece of hot dog for bait. I decided to quit while I had room in my bucket. It was a successful day of fishing for me. Not so successful for cleaning the fish I caught, but I really don't need to go into that right now. Tomorrow I intend to get a lesson in how to clean a fish from my dad who has cleaned many a fish in his lifetime. Thank you everyone for the friendly welcome!
