    Some interesting pictures here.

My next door neighbor in TX fought in Normandy. Up till a few years ago when he died he always attended yearly reunions with his old outfit at different places over the USA. His wife still makes the reunions.

Those pictures also reminded me that Freedom is not free.

Dayton thanks for the pics! I like pics of old wars and such! The pics from the beaches were my favorites! I have a relative who passed a few years ago that was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge.

I have nothing but the greatest respect for the WW2 vets. I knew dozens of them growing up, all of them farmers in Western Kansas. If someone didn't tell you, you would have never know they fought in the war. They came home, put the war behind them and raised their families and grew their crops.

My fishing buddy here is an 83 year old Navy vet, participated in the battle of Okinawa, almost had his ship blown from under him by Kamikazis.

One Grandpa fought in the Pacific. The other was in Europe and was shot down and a POW in Romania. He was able to escape after the Normandy invasion because so many troops were pulled away.

    If D-Day hadn't happened I wouldn't have, either.
