No reverse

    I am having trouble getting my shifter cable working properly, I seems I either have forward or reverse. Is it my cable or my trany

    I'm sure someone can answer this better than I can but it sounds like the shift linkage is out of adjustment. If you let us know what year and make the motor is, I'm sure someone can give you some pointers on where to find it and how to adjust it.

    if you havnt hit anything with your lower end while out on the water etc it is more then likely the cables are out of adjusment or the shifter cable is streching. i would recomend getting a book on the engine it should cover the shifting adjustments etc. it is not a real hard thing to check and make sure. if the cable is streching then you will need to replace it and that can be a load of fun.

    Disconnect the cable at the engine and shift it by hand to determine if it's the lower unit or a cable and linkage problem.
