Im gonna get a Ming CL60 and was thinking one of those Nightsticks would be a good match.Im gonna use it for a short cast/drop into the river, etc, and will be fishing Gills, etc for bait. Are they decent rods for the money?Im thinking the 7 or 8 footer because again, this isnt gonna be a long cast type of rig....Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I just sold 3 8'ters last month. They are ok, I had the plane ones, you might wanna get the pro version the options seem so much better. Dont get me wrong they were a good rod, I just felt they were cheap and I was afraid to hook a 60 with it, but some like them, I hear the pro version is hands down better.

I was looking at that Ramon. You make alot of sense as the Pro version has alot more guides and seemed to be spaced better. For a little more money I might try that. Thanks again.

I gotta believe I can get that rig for real reasonable.

dont get the short nitesticks unless you get the pro version, they are way to whimpy.

But the 12 foot regular nitesticks are a very good heavy action rod which will throw a 10 ounce sinker 150 yds.

I have a 12' spinning but can't ever get past about 100yds . If ya really want a cheap work horse I paid $30 for my night stick and then $25 on an 11' water eagle that I stripped and matched the spines and shoved into the night stick . Its got some power but takes a ton of weight to load so distance suffers . The short ones are reasonably for low current and fish under 30 if ya use your drag

I'm really pleased with my 8 foot casting model, landed a 25lb carp the other day and it didn't break a sweat, lookin at the pro series in a 10 foot casting model now.

I have a couple of the nite stick pros. For the $45.00-$50.00 they cost, they are one of the best rods I've had. The pros have cork handles and a good blank. But, they have ceramic eyes, and a plastic seat. I've still never had a problem with them. I use 65 lb. power pro braid on them too and It dont hurt the eyes or the tip one bit. I burnt the drag washers and eventually stripped the gears out of an abu 6000 a couple weeks ago trying to horse a flathead across a swift channel with one of them. I had the rod doubled over dragging it across the current several times. I pulled on it so hard my shoulders hurt for a week, and I had blisters on both of my thumbs, and the rod held up well. I wouldn't be afraid to grab a 60 pounder with them.

I would call this an excellent review. I have two of the 8' Pro Models, and like them. Thanks.
