For you guys that catch and keep a bunch of crawlers,What do you feed them??
I usually just give them Coffee grounds.
Frabill Fat and Sassy Worm food.
Chicken scratch, thats what some of those commercial ones are anyways.
I use a light dusting of corn meal on top of the dirt then cover it with a piece of a corrogated cardboard cut to fit. The worms should eat all the cornmeal within 1 day, when its gone dust them again. they will also eat the cardboard after it gets damp...Do not use too much cornmeal or it will mold.
good information thanks all rick
Thanks for the post and answers. Been wonderin that myself.
I use the magic worm food you buy at Walmart, but will switch to corn meal as suggested. Cheaper than the worm food.
i feed mine veggies, coffee grounds, bread, lots of lettuce,i raise mostly , egyptian and candian night crawlers here some red worm too.
I have always kept mine in dirt thats wet and I always keep bread crums inside there with the worms and they eat the crums and stay alive.
What do you all use for worm beading? Would peatmoss work well?
