While fishing at a local lake I managed to hook into a couple nice ones. I caught my 15 pounder on shiners, 4 to a hook, 3 inches long. Caught the big one on a gold fish about 4 inches. Long hard fight for the 40 pounder, about a minute per pound since it took me about 40 minutes to get her in. Moon wasn't out, but the storms were circling like crazy and the thunder was rolling. Anglers, Nick Labrillo Sr. and Fishin' Ben.

Nice Flats you got there. What kind of setup are you using? I have landed a couple of 50+ and a couple in the 40lb range and none took no where near 40 minutes to land. I had the 40lb to the shore in about 8-10 minutes and the 50's didn't take any longer than 15 minutes to land. I use a couple of Abu 9000's and 7000's with 40lb big game mono. I have my drag set at about 30% of line strength. It seems like after about 10 min, they tire out and come in pretty easy. When they see the boat, they put up another brief fight then I can net them. I'm in a lake though. Are you fishing in current or are you using lighter tackle?

attaway Nick, way to catch a couple nice ones. I got that video in the works for you, it looks like I fell in the lake, but it's not what happened. Just wanted to test the water temp. is all that was.

Nick here's that video I was talking about. Hope you can see it, it's a bit dark out there. Then again that's why they call ya latnitcats. Caught a 8 pound blue this weekend, I'll show you that if i get the chance.
