Catch them year round but either April or May will produce great fishing. Even in August when the spawn is done the fish will feed up heavy and the bite is action packed. Great time for night fishing and suspending baits over deep structure or drifting the channel ledges around creek mouths. One of my best nights of fishing was during August and used 30 fresh skipjack between myself, dad and buddy; honestly couldn't tell you how many was caught that night.
