Just curious how many would like to see a Nextel cup race on a dirt track , lets say maybe a 1 mile dirt oval? Think Nascar would ever attempt this ? Would the drivers be for or against? what do think?

I would love it. However, I don't think it would ever happen.

I think it would be cool, but don't look for much agreement on here. Seems everybody here wants Nascar to stay the way it is, or go back to the 70's, not evolve.

I would like to see it but it ain't happening.

Kittyhunter there is a difference between evolving and completely thumbing your nose up at your roots, please learn the difference.

Been to long since they have ran dirt early days of Nascar if its just the cars you want to see go to one of the ARCA races on the 1mile dirt tracks the ARCA cars are closer to the Nascar than Busch series cars they are in fact old winston cup cars 2-3 years old they weight the same and run the big motors where Busch is lighter car and less power. They are fun to watch i have seen the ARCA on dirt 6or8 times good races. Most the new Nascar fans dont want dirt in there beer lol i love it in mine.

heck no i don't want dirt in my beer. learned that here when i was young. its ok but when i went to talladega in 98 i found out rubber is much better flavor. i was in row 2. the hat only stayed on fopr 2-3 laps. then i just put it in my seat.

it would be exciting to watch,it wont happen but i bet the #20 car would
love it,he is hard enough to contend with now without putting him on dirt.

I've just never been thrilled about cars on dirt. Go -carts, that's another matter.
I enjoy going to Johnston county speedway to watch the carts and winston minnies.

Schrader and Stewart still try there hand - that would be great but as said above - not enough money in it - Maybe Stewart could have an allstar race seing he owns Eldora -

Screen,I was just up there for the World 100 and before the Dream there this year a few of the guys did run a match race couple nights before the Dream. And Bill Elliott has been running for about three years again in Dirt late Models he ran more last year than this year but he can still run one and his brother is still build some motor for guys in dirt.

Probably not ever gonna be a dirt track race for Nextel cup, but lets say there was. Who would be the favorites?

    1. Tony Stewart ( sprint cars, late models dirt experience)
    2. Dave Blaney ( world of outlaws sprint car experience)
    3. Jimmie Johnson ( offroad racing "CORR" series)
    4. Brendan Gaughan ( offroad racing "CORR" series)
    5. Robby Gordon ( offroad racing "SCORE" series)
    6. Jeff Gordon (sprint cars, dirt and asphalt)
    7. Greg Biffle (who drives like he is on dirt anyways) lol
    8. Any other driver that you know of

I would have to go with Schrader i have seen him run well against the guys that run Dirt Lates and Mods for a living and he is compeitive against them Stewert or Elliott 2nd.

dirt tracks are great and the drivers for the most part are
good about being fan friendly (signing kids autographs and allowing the kids to get a picture by and alot of times in the cars.
seems to me like nascar is actually allready in the dirtraceing.
as their are nascar sanctioned racecircuits.
as far as the drivers of the nascar cup circuit there are quite a few that have the dirt experiance but they are where they are by choice.
i doubt you would get many of them to have the desire to do a full cup schedule
and then have very much participation in dirt as well.
to be a competitive force in either track medium (asphalt/dirt),
takes alot of practice and time as well as $$$$$
there are plenty of great dirt drivers out there now that devote their time energy and $$$$$$ into the sport now.
i say enjoy the dirt tracks the way they are now and the cup raceing the way it is now.
shrader is a owner or part owner of i-55 raceway or at least was going to be .
and he has been to our local 1/8 mile oval in belleville ill. many times
jmo i like it the way it is.
