I'll be out fishing on Truman on New Year's Day (Actually, I'll be out every day next week, but especially on New Year's Day...)

Shad's not too hard to find. Catfish haven't been as cooperative but that ought to change...

Might be fun to make a little informal gathering out of it - maybe meet 10:00am at the Osage Bluff COE ramp and then head off to go fish?

    Anyone else interested?

That sounds like a good idea Marty. Weather undergound says it may be a bit windy that day, hopefully not to bad, my little boat doesn't fair
real well on 4' waves. But I'll make a go of it. Beats sitting at home.
I may be working on a tad bit of a hang over as well. But what the heck.

Looks like it might be a little breezy on Thursday but there are plenty of places you can get out of the wind. Should be mostly out of the southwest, so look for shoreline areas next to the river channel that are on the southwest side of the lake and you can get out of it.

The open parts of the lake will be pretty choppy so be careful and always wear a PFD - the water temp is about 36F and you'll be dead in minutes without one...

If you want to stay out of the wind, you can also launch at the Fairfield boat ramp, which is off of hwy 83 about 4 miles south of the Osage Bluff ramp.

There hasn't been any ice on the lake for about a week. It all melted last week when it got warm.

Good luck out there today everyone. I look forward to reading the reports. If the ice stays away I might be headed that direction for a couple of days in the next two weeks.

We all ended up fishing on the upper LOZ today instead of Truman - too much wind on the lake. Had a good day, more details later once I get unwound a bit and can get the photos off of my camera.

Here are some photos from Jan 1.

Didn't get any shots of Lincoln with a fish, as most of his were (unfortunately) too small to show up on film... :eek:oooh:

I also had a 13 and 15 lb blue, and we kept several eaters as well.

All in all, it was a great day of fishing. Especially compared to the next day when nobody could find bait, a log or something ripped my side imaging transducer off the boat and the bite was slow...
