with the water being up its been tough. but now with it falling the fish should get settled back into thier holes. there are some good places to fish there. i have seen some very respectable blues come out of blanchett landing. there is also a park next to ameristar casino (the name escapes me right now, but im sure i will remember) that gives great access to 3 or 4 wingdikes where i have taken some great fish. but key to both of these spots is lower water.

I try to fish up there as much as possible. Have'nt been since the river has been up but will be there soon. Generally fish from Weldon Springs do pretty weel there. Do you have a boat? Some good holes to fish near Howell Island. If ya dont have a boat get in touch might meet up sometime. Welcome to the club.

i fish howell island sometimes, but i allways get 1-4 pound channels and carp. without a boat it can be a hike to get to the really good spots around there. ken, do you fish in centar chute or on the missouri ?

when the water is LOW and bridge is useable, you could get something like that in at howel island, but you would want to go to the left of the bridge.
when it is low and the whole bridge is exposed the current is very light because of the other causway about 3/4 of a mile up. i have caught some nice channels in there, and i have seen some real nice flats come out of small row boats people put in there.

I am pretty much in your position, except for a few buddies with boats. All I do is fish from the bank.Try Busch Wildlife right off Highway 40 near 94. Lake 33 with chicken livers ...Just a suggestion.. :)

New to the forum, not having much luck fishing around the rivers. I've always been a farm pond fisherman, the learning curve seems to be in the favor of the catfish right now. This thread has been pretty helpful for me. Keep it coming!!

I usually fish Lake 5 at Busch and did well this past weekend with Primo dipping bait and red noodles. Caught around 18 mostly 12-15" sizes and threw them back. I did keep 2 that were around 3 lbs each for dinner though. I got there and literally within 2 minutes had fish on, others fishing that day were mad as hell with me and of course had to see what I was using.:smile2: I fished on saturday as I knew it was going to rain on sunday, and it was windy as can be as well but they were biting pretty good just as always before the storm.
