Have just returned from Alamo Lake after a 6 week fishing trip.

What a blast, crappie were slow but bass were good and catfishing was suburb. Caught a least 400 mostly 2 to 3lb. But dozens in 5 to 7lbs.
Fish at Alamo are great eating and fortunately I have a lot of friends and family who eat Catfish. If anyone wants info on Alamo let me know. Am surprised that no posts seem to be on this water..It's my favorite.. Am looking for info on catting on Verde.

WELCOME MR. SHADMAN. great to have you here and great to have your expertise on Alamo. Maybe there are no reports because the secret isnt out yet. Sounds like a great trip. Were all your cats channels, or did you manage any flats? How many did you keep and when is the fish fry?

you will love the fisherman here, they will help you alot and you'll find some good people here as well. Always good to find another az catman. So go ahead and let the secret out,
    -what were you using
-what type of water were you on
    -any pics?

    great to have you BROTHER!!

Alamo has no Flatheads. Fished the coves looking for protected backwaters to stay out of wind which can dangerous in my 14ft lowe. Will edit my post with more info.

    thanks for comments

I fished the coves on east end looking for places to stay out of wind which can easily blow up to 30 to 50 mph on any given day. Fished in typically 2 to 3 feet of water against the shore.. Pull the point of the boat onto shore and fish the shoreline, close to weeds or structure...Bait was crawlers, shrimp dipped in Bowkers and shad dead or alive when you can get them..Shad Runs were spotty but I did freeze a lot for use when needed. This year the cats seemed to love the crawlers.

Welcome to a great site Shadman. I also love fishing Alamo. I usually fish for bass or crappie there, but I have had some incredible catfishing at that lake as well. A six week fishing trip - now thats fishing!
