I'm gonna be staying right next to I - 95 and will probably fish somewhere close if it would be worth it. I have never fished that area or would it be better to go to the lower end near the canal. I've never been in that area fishing an any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

IMO, above the 95 bridge is the place to be when the blue cats are spawning. If you are going in the next couple of weeks, I'd fish 2 to 5 feet deep around the cypress tree's up towards santee state park.

First off, Welcome to the BOC. The folkes here love to help others learn about catfishing, this is the place for info. Know far as fishing and were you are staying I'll agree with Weathermantrey this time of year, if the water temp. gets up in the 60+ , the shallow should be the place to be. Best of luck to you! Keep us informed.

The area above I95 is red hot now. We caught well over 300 lbs this past friday with fish anywhere between 5 and 30 lbs. even with the wind howling. The fish were biting cut river herring in 2 to 6 ft. of water.

  8. Very nice trip!
Foxhound, was that during day/night or both?

Can you catch Flatheads in the upper part of the lake or is the best chance down around Moultrie?

Matt, there are a lot of flatheads in the upper lake, probably more so than in Moultrie, although the flats are becoming much more common down there, too.
