Hello all. I am new to Catfishing, after a long, long, long absence. I have two young ones, a son and a daughter, 7 & 8 that LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to fish. We live just up the hill from Griggs Reservoir and could get there for a couple of hours just about every evening. We probably get there at least twice, sometimes 3 times a week and at least once on the weekends.
They are content with the little ones (gills, crappie, etc.) at the moment but their time will come. I have been catching some 2-3 lb. cats out there and have the feeling that there are some big ones out there in that water...like the one that let me pull him to the edge last night and then shook his head and damned near knocked me backward when the line broke.

I apparently have been gone from the hobby for too long, and have no idea what kind of gear I need to keep stuff like that from happening...been looking around on the net for some ideas...any recommendations from the experts here would be appreciated...
Thanks for being here, and I look forward to lots more nights fighting with those cats.
    Phil
