floralina rig i came up with ... if you use no roll sinkers 3-6 ounces then try this ... cut a 6 inch peice of 50-80lb mono and tie a swivel to one end then add a bead then your no roll sinker then a bead then tie a second swivel to the last end of the 6 inch leader ...... floralina rig !!!! then tie your rod's main line to one swivel and tie a 12-24 in peice of 30-40 lb mono to the second swivel and tie a hook of your choice on .. the floralina rig limits the sliding the sinker does and seems to cast further i just tied a fer up in my tackle box and will fill ya in on the out come gl . i got tired of short casts and snapping lines.

well its only 1 pain in the arse knot the braided line to the top swivel thats the only one that concerns me the other 4 knots are heavy mono so not a big deal per say as the braided knot.. as the mono never slips .. aslong as you get the knots rite .

my luck is bad so you could be rite on the gl part , but i was thinking the beads would make a noise on the sinker and maybe peak the intrest of a big ol channel .. but i am not so sure if they hunt with sound too :(~ in theory it works great :cowboy: .

so i'll let ya know . if nottin else i will have found a creative way to distribute swivle's lead and beads and hooks all around the river :time-out:

You might want to tie some extra leaders at home before you go out. Sounds like you could get some more distance with that. Kinda defeats the purpose of the Carolina rig. I snag so much I don't mess with a Carolina rig. Wish I could though.

but i try to only use them in our honey hole @ the river where there if very few snags but the most productive spot for the big cats is like 10-15 feet past where the average cast will reach . i lighten my tackle box [snag and break lines] the most at the dam in the rocks and haven't had any luck there so i just save my gear and avoid the dam .

a lil side note wile goofing around casting at the lake i have noticed that i can almost reach my backing , so i do belive i gained a few feet on the cast now i can't wait to hit the river with matt77 again and let some lead fly LOL

tryed the new sinker worded great i had it on an old penn reel with no level wind and 80lb mono with a 6foot boat rod and i can almost cast it as far as my regular okuma reel and the 8foot rods i did have a nice run on it but i think it was a gar then the stupid boats started coming in so i had to move it and left it out of the water .

i was very happy with how far it casted and them fealing the resistance i am not so sure that its an issue as i catch most of my cats on the 3way swivel with the sinker on the bottom and not sliding then again i could be wrong as i have yet to figure out wjat cat fish are thinking ... p.s i havn't tried it with power pro yet but i will

When I was fishing off a pier in the ocean I snagged a broken line that had a steel leader that's designed exactly how you have your "floralina" set up. Except, there was a swivel up top to tie to, clamped line and some leader, bead, egg weight, bead, clamped line and some leader, then a clamp swivel for the hook. I've used it once or twice since I found it, but I still use the Carolina rig because that's what I learned on and it's just easy for me to accomplish and I haven't had any problems from it.
