The prop on the boat i just bought has few minor dings on it. I was told that this would hurt my bottom seals in the long run, and suggested to take to the repair shop near Lexington. Anybody got any suggestions. The boy I bought it from said it'll be fine.:confused2:

    Jeff,
The dings themselves will not do anything other than make the prop less efficient. However, if the dings cause the prop to be out of balance then yes, over time your lower unit bearings and seals will suffer; the more out of balance the prop is, the shorter the time needed to cause a problem.
Lower unit bearings are quite sturdy so a few minor dings won't be a big issue, especially if the prop is aluminum but I prefer to not let my prop get too dinged up before I have it worked over...W
