I got permission today to fish a new strech of Neosho river and I'm excited. It's on ouside bend of river about 1 mile above Humboldt dam so its deep water.I know some guys that run lines up there and they catch some big ones. The rock ledge runs for about a 1/2 mile and I think they will be laying right against the rocks.I will find out soon. The first picture is looking downriver and second one is upriver.

Tasty looking stretch of river, bro! You're right, that rock shelf does look
promising. Gonna come at it from the bank side or float in with a boat
and drift a bait in under a bobber?

I actually remember seeing that ledge on a trip with my grandpa. Neat looking place and it sure brings back some good memories. Thanks.

I'm really starting to like this place.Went back for an hour this evening and caught a channel 26 inches.Would have let it go but hooked real deep with circle hook so going to have it for supper.:smile2: They aren't biting real aggressive yet, have to feed them some line until they take it good.If they feel the clicker they let go.

Got it cooking now.No wonder it had such a big gut.I always check stomach contents and he had a big bull frog, 3 helgramites, and several big minnows.Surprised he was still hungry.Tells me that they may be feeding earlier in day too.

Thanks for the post Ray, Nice to here about my old fishing areas around Humboldt. I grew up fishing the river and farm ponds all around Humboldt to Chanute. My grandfather lived in Chanute till the late 70's early 80's till he moved to Humboldt. So I got to do a lot of fishing with him around their. Remember going to a old sand bar on the river, that you had to drive thru the dump to get to. Plus many many days fishing by the dam. Now I prowl the Neosho from Neosho Falls to N of Hartford.

    She is a "grand" o'river isn't she. :smile2:

Why does the river become the Grand in Oklahoma? I have always wondered that.
She is an awesome river. Sad you can only fish small pieces of her.:sad2:
