I took my son fishing on LN tonight. We landed a new pb for norman. 32 lb blue. My son could'nt believe it. It was his biggest fish ever. Right at 40 inches and very fat. We also caught a couple channels and a nice 4 lb blue. We were fishing with cut shad and drifting in 8 to 22 ft of water around points on the west side of the main channel. I put in at Queens landing and never got out of site of the landing. Just a note. This fish didn't have any mussells in his gullet like the ones I been catching recently have.

Nice, very nice. When you cover from 8 to 22 ft., do you start at 22 and let your bottom baits drag as you get into the shallows? What size bait were you using? Thanks and good job on the blue.

Im trying to fish in 9 to 14 ft of water. Thats seems to be where I've had the most luck this month. I'm drifting over points and flats that look to hold these depths on my gps. Last night I started at the back of a cove in 4 to 5 ft of water. I try to follow the shoreline in my desired depths. This particular areas bottom varied alot between 8 to 25 ft. My best guess is that this fish was hooked in about 14 ft of water heading back to 11 ft. I use almost exclusively cut shad that I either catch myself or purchase fozen. Last night I was using purchased shad. I cut off the heads just behind the eyes and the tails and double hook them on #6 circle hooks. Most of the time the shad I'm using are 1 - 3 inches. Much bigger and I'll cut them into chuncks. I use santee rigs to and fish 2 to 4 rods depnding on conditions. I learned this method fishing with JP Clark on lake Moltrie.

How do you know that the 32 pound blue did not have shells in it's gullet?
