So no pics :embarassed: I wasn't really expecting anything like this to happen today...

I was fishing a local lake that I have gotten 5#+ out of before, they really like Berkley Gulp 5 inch worms for some reason, i think they resemble the eels that live there...

Well anyway two hours of nothing and my line goes tight... I knew it was big but it really wasn't fighting much on the way in, well when i got it close i saw how big it was and it took off for the deep... I was using a 7 foot bass pole with 6 lb test... After a few more runs I got this thing in, no phone no camera no tape measure... I marked it on my pole and set her free, i really didn't want to transport it or stress it anymore than I had to, she was gorgeous. Checked when I got home and it looks like it was 27-28 inches, not sure how much that would weigh, it was pretty fat too. Think it went over 10? I'm pretty sure it did. Anyway it was my biggest channel to date and expected nothing like that to happen at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Maybe I'll get her later sometime and she can pose for me..

    thought Id share. :cool2:

Congrats Matt on the new PB Channel Cat! :cool2: Too bad about not having a camera with you! :sad2: A 27"-28" Channel Cat would be in the 7#-8# range usually but with a big belly could go more!

Congrads hon I am hoping to catch my first catfish in about 40 years when we go to the MO gathering this coming weekend, I haven't fished with a "pole" since I was about 10 other than crappie and bream! I can't wait and a 10 lber would be FINE with me!
