I made the 112 mile journey north to Chapman Lake along with long time ice fishing buddies of mine Ralph and Gene. We got up there around 8:15 AM and fished till near 3 PM. I am very pleased to report I caught my 1st fish of 2009 which also turned out to be the largest Brook trout I have ever caught measuring in at 20"! :cool2: Even more impressive was how big around this fish was, sadly we didn't have a scale to weigh it but this thing was a blimp! One of my long time fishing goals was to catch and have mounted a 18" or larger Brookie so this fish surpassed and far exceeded that number and was dropped off at the taxidermist upon arrival home! I only got 1 pic and my camera battery died from the cold but its a good pic! Ralph took some pics and will be sending them to me I will post a complete report of our trip on the Pa Ice Fishing thread once I get his pics!

Good JOb! wish I could've made it. there's been rumors of big fish up in chapman, lately.

I see its true. Last year, the brook trout I caught were a little larger than normal as well. 13-15". Were you guys stay up by the sled riding hill or did you walk down towards the dam breast? are were you fishing shallow or deep water??
