Hi all. I am humbled almost to the point of not posting. :embarassed: Sure was happy to find such a well organized Brotherhood of Catfishermen. Greetings from Venice, Florida. Have fished all my life, and am now a small boat commercial grouper handliner. Also a Florida Seafood Dealer. My main interest in catfishing is to develop salt water catfish, gafftopsail and hardhead, as respected table fare for recreational fishermen everywhere and as a sought after restaurant product. I market sea catfish as "Red, White and Blue Catfish", to set the product apart from imports. I realize the BOC is mainly comprised of recreational fishermen, and expect to receive some grief. I have studied the site for several weeks and I can assure you all that my ideals are the same as yours. Because of the general misconceptions about edibility, we are presently allowing a huge biomass of preditory fishes to thrive in our estuaries, and their main source of food is the juveniles of our crabs and sport fishes! By exposing the viability of this huge resource, we can put the eating back into family fishing and at the same time start to harvest some of the catfishes, which will balance the stocks. I hope to have your help, Catfish deserve it.
