how do folks. New to the board but certain I've seen some of you before on the water. Grew up on the mississippi and have spent a quite a bit of time on pool 25. Mostly a catch and release guy here when it comes to blues, but I do keep a fair amount of channels and smaller flathead (can't beat that belly meat). Biggest fish to date is around 66lbs (not certain but pegged a 60lb scale) which I turned loose for another day. Can remember when I was a kid how rare it was to catch a blue on pool 25. Glad to see they made a comeback, thanks to the C&R folks!

So I guess now that we've got to know each other, yall can start spillin your secret fishin holes! :tounge_out: Just kiddin'!

Welcome to the BOC. If you've spent much time at all on
pool #25 I'm sure you have seen me out there. I spend more time there than any other place I fish, and I love it. You'll have to let me know sometime when your going out, if I'm there we can say howdy.

For a newby, where is Pool 25? Would that be defined as, "below Winfield, above Alton Dams"?

    Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Andy52 already answered for me, but yes Pool 25 is up river from L&D 25 (winfield). I grew up a few miles from that stretch of river and have pretty much fished it since I was a kid. Seen alot of crazy things happen out there. Started catching some small smallmouth a few years ago and had a buddy catch a 17" northern pike once. I guess thats what makes it so much fun is you never know what you migh hook up with. I love floating the rip rap banks with crank baits and catching flathead. Have also been yelled at through a megaphone many times by the L&D 24 lockmaster. lol

I just wish the COE wouldn't mess with the water levels so much, but I understand the importance for transportation and what not.
