Hi,I love the old Ambassadeur reels but would not spend what they want for the new ones assembled in Sweden and manufactured in who knows where. Good luck on the shopping though,Teri

The 7000 would be my choice, over the 10,000, unless ocean fishin'.

I spent my X-mas BPS gift cards on an Abu 7000 ic3 a few weeks ago. I've had it sitting in the office all this time starring at me. Just begging me to slime it up with some skipjack. :smile2: I think today's finally the day! :tounge_out:

The new reels are alright, but not the quality of the older series, keep e'm clean & serviced they will perform just fine. We use the old bushing 6000's unless we need distance, then it's 7000's.Good fishin!

It's a done deal...got a new 7000ic3. They didn't have any tiger rods the right size, so opted to try a catmaax 7 1/2' HVY action. Spooled it up with some orange 65lb braid. Combo feels really good, ready to pull a 60 lb flathead out of the logs. We'll see how the catmaxx holds up. I know some folks have problems with the eyelets but the rod itself feels nice.

Took it out for a test fit in the rod holder...:smile2:

I sure enjoy using 7000 series reels,, and, the clicker seems just a bit louder than on the 6500's.. I use'm both, but, seem to lean towards the 7000's when I'm hoping for something Large!!

Seems like it will be a nice reel, I know the new once ain't what they used to be but I don't think it will have any problems with any size cat. Just bought 2 more 6000s tonight. So added to the 2 6600s I got and the 7000 I think I'm ready to do some catchin!!:smile2: The 7000 will be my BIG BAIT rod...
