I am a new cat fisherman and I hear below the dam with live shad is best. Any hints?oooh:
Your on the right track.
Sure is a good bait to use for sure. Welcome to the BOC!!!
Welcome to the BOC. Shad cut or whole will get em.
Welcome to the BOC Danny.
Welcome to the BOC Danny. Try using different things. Shad Cut, live heads, gut pockets. Let the fish tell you what they want. Any one of these is good on a given day.
Fresh shad are probably the top producing bait down there but I've talked with a few guys that have had better luck on drum heads than shad this year. Found chopped up drum in a few of the 8-10 pound fish that I cleaned this year also, guess the dam is making plenty of chopped bait so they're not being too picky. I've also had pretty good luck with bluegill, main thing is that it is fresh. Stay away from that frozen store bought stuff. Invest in ALOT of sinkers and terminal tackle if you're going to be fishing from the bank. Almost every cast is a donation of some kind. Chris
