anyone used the new bass pro shop cat maxx rods with the sensitive white tip for tight lining with cirlce hooks? I am planning on getting some. I have two of the older ones, very good rods.

I got ont about two months ago and have been using it on the lake, works real good, but have not done any night fishing. I have no doubt that a little light will show off the rod tip. Circle hooks on the lake seem to work about 50 percent of the time. Fish feed different on the lake than they do in the river. They have time to sit and nibble and are not in a hrry to take the bait and run a lot of the time.

I have some of the new cat maxx's and they work just as good as the older ones, which I have some of also. I wasn't aware that the tip was more sensative, I just thought it was so you could see it at night. Anyway I caught my first fish of the year on it last weekend, a 36lb. blue. It worked great. I caught it on the Mississippi River with circle hooks.
