i was recently told of a new bait, the guy says that he takes a pork shoulder and cuts it into chunks, the he soaks it in red food coloring, and anise oil. i smelled of his anise oil and it smelled similar to liqorish. have not tried this yet. has anyone heard of this?

Welcome to BOC.... I don't think I'd try something like that with a "pork shoulder"....I might smoke it....lol....If the anise oil/food coloring is what's attracting the cats, I would do it with weiner's or something cheaper...JMO....Dwight

You can use bacon/saltpork and do the same and get good results. I hope this helps.

Uhmm ahhh roasted pork shoulder just too good to use for bait plus one of my favorites. I have used Anise on other baits though but to buy a whole pork shoulder not sure maybe one day I will buy one cut a piece of to use and eat the rest....lol
