Well I got a good hook up from a friend at work on some cow livers. Has anyone ever used a cow liver for bait? Man do they stink. I am going to try my luck this weekend when I take my boat out on this new spot we found.

Turkey livers almost as tough and as good as chicken liver.

Shawn, I've tried calf liver many times in the past, in both rivers and lakes. The calf liver stays on the hook much better than chicken liver, but never had any success with it.

the beef liver will cost you more. I just happen to have a friend that owns cows and can get them to me for free.

So if I am understanding that 2005 post right, Beef melt refers to
connective tissue found outside of the intestines that form the gut
into a compact mass riding inside the critter. Am I somewhere near
the mark on this? I can see why it would hang on the hook a lot
better than organ tissue would. Made the connection!

If you really want to understand the organs of a cow make a trip to KS.They have a live cow with a window in its side that you can see the insides.

    This is no joke!

I think that the Cow is on lock down and only certain people can view it now. It is the oddest thing you will ever see if you get a chance too.:eek:oooh:

when my dad worked at the packing pland i got cow liver and cow spleen fresh from the cow. get a 5 gallon bucket of livers and spleen and then id cut it up into chunks, bag it, and freeze it. the cow spleen seemed to catch more fish though.
