This year were finding ALOT of flatheads on main and secondary points. Now they seem to be moving off the points and into there normal summer haunts with the spawn finishing up. But either way the bite is still been good. We're looking in shallow water 2-12ft. Live bait seem's dominate with Live bluegill/sunfish, over live shad. Cut shad has caught several smaller flatheads. But mostly Channel cats. All fish have been released, except one 6lb flathead my buddy wanted to harvest. Alot of good stripers aswell this spring, i'll post that report in the striper section when i get more time...

Forgot to mention. Most of the cats have been good in size for Smith mountain lake. Running in the high teen's up to 30lbs so far this spring. The channel cats have nice to with several 10lbers.

Hi Travis,

I am here in town this weekend and fishing SML all day tomorrow and through the night tomorrow. I am coming out of Mitchell's Point Marina area toward the dam end. Any tips on where to focus and what baits are hitting. I am without my net this trip so I am stuck with cut bait or live I can catch, minnows, crawlers, or dough.

Thanks,
Al
