Has anyone fished this area, I heard that there are some really big fish there but never got to try it. What is the average water depth there also.

i fish the neuse mainly in 2 places.......1....from contentnea creek to pitchkettle creek.......this is a big area.....severla ramps to choose from.........also..in this stretch i dont fish the deep holes at night...only in the daytime,....at night the big ones leave the 20 -30 ft deep water and go huntin for food shallow........i caught the 46 lber in this stretch on 6/17/05 in aprox 10 ft of water.......20 ft just up and just downstream.....2nd area i fish the neuse is between smithfild and goldsboro..... i also fish contentnea cr right in grifton.........the biggest i have caught in grifton this year is a 24 lb flathead ..caugth on rising water...water flow went from 250 cfs to 1200 cfs on the same day..........contentnea creek has some of the most beautiful and big bream you will ever see....sometimes there we dont even bother to catfish....

jay...1 good spot to fish is right where pitchkettle creek enters the neuse......the river makes a right turn here......imagine coming down river and where the creek enters is just like a "t" intersection......90 degree turn to the left will put you into the creek and a 90 degree turn to the right will keep you in the neuse.....the river turns so hard here it swirls and at normal flows it is 30 ft deep.......just into the creek it goes shallower....fish there...some monsters have been caught here.........i caught the 46 lber near here on 30 lb line.....abu 6500 ...ugly stik...same outfits has been made to look lightweight at this spot.........it is tottally freshwater here but i promise you i have seen tarpon right here,,,,,i would not have belived it but i have seen it......mack
pelican landing and a landing at turkery quarter are downstream...mack
