I just recently boat an old boat and it has a 70 hp johnson ! It doean't have a tach but I want to put a tach on it, how much of a job would this be or does it need to go to the shop for this??
Also what brand would be a good choice or does it have to come from Johnson??

    Thanks

Did you get a control box with that boat, if so, you'll need the pigtale from the control box to the tach, then it'll be easy to wire in. Any tach, set to the correct pole could work.

Thanks Bobpaul, I;ll have to do a little checking to see if it has a control box.. Would that be in the switch/throttle housing??
It's a 87 model Johnson and did not have one on it when I got it!!

:big_smile:hi randy, the tack hookup plugs in the little rubber pigtail right below the key switch if it is mounted in the controll box.you will need a out board tack.ther will be a dial on the back of the tack.you will need to set it to three which is how mant cylinders you have.
