I can not cast or control a reel in free spool,due to a handicap.I pull my line out with the clicker,or the lever drag on lightly.This keeps my line from becoming a tangled mess.Which causes less wear,or is easier to replace.The clicker,or the drag.The reel is a Shimano Charter Special 2000 LD,with 20 lb Trilene XT.My drag is set at a measured 5 lbs.on the maximum setting.This is about all the drag that I can handle.I would think the drag,but I don;t know for sure.Any knowledge on this type reel would help.I have not used a casting reel in over 30 years.

hey peewee, not familiar with that particular reel, but based on general reel design and experience, i would say the clicker would be cheaper and easier to replace than a drag system.
