I just purchased a 15 foot rod to use on the river (i fish from the bank). Im looking for a spinning reel that can handle 50#+ line. Currently I have a 12 foot rod with a catmaxx reel and I love it but it does not handle line much bigger than 30#. I need something fairly cheap but dependable.

    Thanks

That might be hard to find, the biggest spinning reel I have seen is the Shimano baitrunner series, I have a Shakespeare Tidwater Freeliner Spinning Reel, It only holds 220 yd of 20# line. I think ur only option is to go braided line.

Okuma Coronado CD 90 is rated for 330 yards of 30.I have Yo-Zuri 60 lb.Hybrid Mono.on one.It is .031 inches in dia.with a claimed 79.3 lb.breaking strength on one spool and it surprised me how well in does. Also, the x-tra complete spools are very reasonable compared to most and you can afford to have spares with different line if you wish.luck.peewee

firefighteremtb78, I do not know how this reel is, but it may be worth taking a look! The link below is to the Daiwa site. Take and look at it.
