I dont know the name of the river that is west of melvern lake by the refuge? If anyone from that area knows it lmk. I was dove hunting and found it. I would like to fish it for flatheads before the year is done.

The Marais De Cygneys Runs in to it on the west side. Some real good fishing in that area. Went there a few times with my brother Crappie fishing

I have been scoping this joint out for a few weeks and I think it should be a great spot for flatheads.

Shawn just beware that area turns into a refuge during waterfowl season.

I'll get the directions to the place we went Crappie fishing. I have never hit it for cats but it looked really good. There is also another place on Melvern that is close to you that really looks good for cats. It is called Nude Beach or something like that.

That is what I thought hen my brother told me about the place. I was really mad when I got to the location. There was no beach at all. :smile2:

Not a clue why it is called that other than it is out of the way and hell to get to. One way in and out just wide enough for a small vehicle trucks are rubbing the trees.

I have heard it is packed with them and some real HAWGS. I have never been good at targeting them on lakes though.

It is right around that area. I will have to bust out the map and make sure it is GTG.

Shawn the old gravel road coming down to the lake on the north side west of the bridge is the line i believe.
Gives you about 1/4 mile to fish west of the bridge.Real good blue cat fishing there.

Then if you go to the ramp in the river you cant go back east from there. But there is some real good fishing from the ramp going west/up river.
