Heyya everyone hope you're all alright.

I'm in need of help at the moment, I'm the singer of band and we've got a gig comin up next month, we've been told that we need to perform something from AUSTRALIA, but I've no idea what we could do!!!
I've been told it's gotta be something along the lines of folk as well :embarassed:

Would be very grateful for your help! thanks

    Jen:big_smile:

P.S, No AC/DC though, I asked and they said no

The Aussie band Silverchair had a couple good songs. I like "Tommorrow" and "Isreal's Son".

I wouldn't play a gig that dictated what material I had to play. If they don't like my music, they can get someone else.

:smile2: AC/DC was the first group to cross my mind as well Jen. I should've known you would've already suggested them .

I did a quick search, googled Australian folk music. There's all kinds of stuff there to delve into, but this link seems to have quite a few names you could do further research on to find something appropriate.

thats a great idea, tanya. thats one thing i love to do. take an old public domain song and rework it with some distortion and it becomes and original cover.

    Jen,
Have you tried the old Aussie folk song,"Kookabera sits in the old gum tree".

with some work I think you could get a good harmony going, esp if you sing it in a round.
Iam sure you know the song.Kookabera sits in the old gum tree. Merry, merry king of the bush is he.. ...
I have the whole song if you would like to see them.

    How about INXS?

If they don't like that, tell them to hire a kangaroo and a koala and go bugger themselves.

Ok, I think I can help with this one......I am very qualified, I play 4 musical insturments.

Isnt there a country band from down under? Also, do you have any music you have composed yourself? I think that would be considered "Austrailian" music.

By the way my music instrument of choice is the 80 gb black IPOD, with carrying case, however I do play a pretty good house and truck radio, and when I am home on those rare occasion I love playing the stereo. And every once inawhile I play the Karoke, I carry my tune in a 5 gallon bucket.

its one thing to request but if it is a stipulation i wouldnt even do it.... and i know alot about music... but siverchair was a good idea.. you could find something by them that would fit their taste
