I am new to this game, and I am fishing some tuff water half way between sioux city and council bluff on the big Mo. I have had some luck, but for the most part it has been slow, any help would be great.

Hello to you guys (just found this site and registered)

I have been trying to find spots along the river too..I live in Blair, Nebraska and mainly fish Boyer refuge and DeSoto Dend refuge. It's hard to find access to some good spots along the river. I have only lived here for about 5 years now. I was born and raised in North Platte, NE. The fishing in the Reservoirs back home was alot better than fishing the Missouri river here..but I don't have much of a choice. I have some friends from Plattsmouth who actually catch one or two 25-30 pound fish every time they go out..It seems like I learn something new every time I fish the river.


I would love to catch a 35lb or more flathead someday...

what are you using for a rig. what are you using for bait. i have really only fished the raccoon river but always had luck. i may be able to give you some pointers.

I'm not sure what the river is like up there but if there are wing dikes, fish around them. In front, out on the ends and down stream along the seam. It's better to have a boat but not a must. I use small carp, shad, perch, gills live and cut. Look around the forum in neighboring states for other threads about fishing the missouri. You can post in those states and ask questions, I'm from kansas and there are some really good fishermen that post there, alot better than I, they would be glad to help.

The river is just tuff this time of year but the wing dikes and sunken sandbars would be the best place to start.
