I need some good info on some local lakes or river spots to go after big cats. Please and thank you.
In Indy, Geist reservoir and eagle creek are easy to fish lakes -infested with big cats especially Geist.... as for rivers, downtown indypark area seems to be the hot spot for huge flatheads and channels right now.

You won't find Blues anywhere near Beach grove- you'll have to travel to the Ohio for a shot at one of those.
Finding trophy flatheads in the river around you will take work- it ain't easy.
There are basic rules to go by that will help narrow your search big time, along with scads of killer tips posted all over this forum... check the stuff out,,, it's the best info you'll find anywhere, and you'll learn in no time exactly what to look for in a hotspot.... including ways to fish it, tackle and gear that you should use when you do find it.... it all goes hand in hand, but you'll soon see - it's far from rocket science, and you'll find tons of good people jumping at the chance to help you here as much as they possibly can..... get to know people here, and let them get to know you, and you'll soon have endless offers from nice folks willing take you to their hotspots wanting to help you out in your quest.

James,
Welcome to the USCA.
I knew when I read your opening post that you would be in for a tough sell.
You may think that some of the responses are unhelpful bordering on downright rude but you have to understand that you cannot just show up and your first question be "Where can I catch a big catfish?"
I've been around this board for a long time and know some of these guys personally but I would not expect them to answer that if I asked them.
You need to understand that some until we get to know you and feel we can trust you, all you will really get are general answers about places to fish. Most of the waters around Indy have some big cats so any place mentioned has potential but specific spots are well guarded for obvious reasons. Any of us could share the location of a honey hole with you today and the next time we fish it we could find you there with ten of your buddies!
There are guys who will troll for info to catch fish for the paylakes, there are those who have no respect for fish nor river who will trash a spot beyond belief and others who kill and eat everything they catch whether it's a trophy or not. I'm not saying you are like any of the types I just mentioned but the bottom line is we don't know just who you are.
So, if you put in some time getting to know us and we think you are for real, you will find that answers will be more forthcoming and less vague but don't hold your breath waiting for the locations of specific holes.:secret:
Good luck...W

I really appreciate any info that has been divulged in the thread I started. I understand no one is going to give exact locations of there greatest spots. I have many secret bass, etc holes that I wont tell anyone. I just recently got heavy into catfishing after I caught a 30 flat at a neighborhood pond and I have been searching for that feeling ever since. I am thankful for any info given and again I am just looking for some general advice, no specific secret locations. I hope to get to know everyone and look forward to some good fishing.

All right, by popular demand I have now posted my picture and spruced up my profile a little bit. I have added an album with pics of a few fish from this year and my 10 ft. jon boat which is for sale if anyone is interested. A few of the pics are Salmon out of Lake Michigan, man are those trips fun.
