The catfish are spawning right now. So there not realy out hunting for food as much. I have been catching a good many channel catfish on texas rigged salamanders. Charlys blood baits been workin pretty darn good to. This is the time of year were you move a lot. dont sit in one spot. Do a lot of casting, and try to land on there beds. finde cracks in cliffs, undercuts in cliffs, and rock piles. Dont be afraid to fish shallow either my average depth for catching them this year has been 3-4'.

where do ya get these salamanders and can you tell me where about you fish do you ever fish near weavers bridge ,, seems my dads dead set on putting the boat in there, i keep telling him we need to put in at james creek and fish from there, but for some reason he wants to start our shitty fishing trips below the bridge on the river. I guess its because thats where hes caught them b4 and dont really know the lake that well, so i came to hopefully convince him we need to be on the lake hopefully im right ...thanks for your replies....

yes we have a boat, are you talking b4 the no wake bouys, or up toward atich inlet, what kinda of depth are we talking maybe thats what i should ask?

thaks for the info!!
Randy, if your coming out of Aitch heading towards James Creek, right before you leave the no-wake there is an inlet to your right. Go back there just till the depth starts coming up and anchor facing in. Then you can cast out toward the channel and fish in about 25' of water. I've caught some decent channel cats there in the 23 - 26" range. Good eatin size!:smile-big: Good luck trying to get your Dad to change his ways. LOL

I use zoom plastic salamanders like youd use for bass fishing with a bullet wieght. I think the spawns starting to end now so your probably best off just useing bait. I do good though around weavers falls. They dont bite to good during the spawn, that could be one reason you didnt do to good there. But I am still a strong believer in switching it up. So id give James creek a try where tbartrk said. When you do fish weavers falls, try live bluegill with there eyes poked out under a big slip bobber. You might get some big ones. Ive done pretty good fishing that way.

Hit up the lake last night. Was fishing out of Snyders Run. It sucked. I had cut bait, chicken livers and even shiners under a bobber and didn't have so much as a nibble.

Sounds like a good time to get some of them stripers or lakers, :plate: have you goten any of them lately? :cowboy:
