Need help brothers fishing Clendening lake tom

    :confused2:Im fishing clendening lake tom and want to know the best bait for flatties? also do i need to fish shallow or deep?? Ive never caught a flattie before and would like any information anyone has to offer.

    There is more flathead catfish info on this site than you could read in a month.

    Look for deep water with heavy structure. In a perfect scenario, this hole will be closely located to a fast moving channel. The flatheads will sit in the slower deep water, and ambush other fish as they move in and out of the channel. Us live bait, bluegill work great.

    I'd have to agree with brother hilljack on this one for sure. Myself I also like to toss a nice live goldfish!

    Not meaning to be picky because I have only fished Clendening one time, I think a person will have a hard time finding any fast moving water. I think you will be better or fishing the shallows in the bays for flatheads. Spring and fall being the best times.
