I live in SoCali and I was wondering if anyone had any channel catfish bait tips. I fish in lakes and not rivers. The next time I go I'll probably try some shad guts from the preserved shad I bought at wal-mart. anyways what are good baits. and has anyone ever tried those scented marshmallows. if so are they any good? oh yeah what's anise oil and how does it work?
    thanks

I feel fresh cut shad is best, but any fresh cut fish that is in the body of water yer fishing will werk.
Soak the shrimp hotdogs in the anise(vanilla extract works well too)oil.
The bacon and pizza werk well alone, and leave a nice scent slick!

anise-is-like-vanilla-extract,but-with-anise.Now theres an anise liqueuer, but i wouldn't waste money on that fer bait, tastes awful good in coffee though!

If it has a strong smell it will usually catch a catfish.
Magic Bait works great on channels and blues.

For channel I find the most consistant and most bitten bait is nightcrawlers. For larger fish cut bait.
