I just got to the area and would love to do some catfishing but everything I read talks about James river or Kerr lake are those the only places to go and where do go if you don't have a boat?
I've caught some decent fish at Bob's Fishing hole. It's south Chesapeake. Roughly a 40 minute drive if you avoid the toll booth. A dollar to fish off the pier and a tackle shop. There's stumpy lake. The GPS location online takes you to a golf course but if you go a mile or two past it to the south Lake it opens up well. Caught a few nice catfish there. Lake Lawson/Smith is close by it has a lot of people there. Haven't caught much there but heard of people catching some channels.
