I just bought my wife a new Convector CL45 Reel and it is awesome.
We haven't had the chance to get it out and try it yet but hopefully by next weekend we can catch some nice cats with it.
Here's some pics of the rod and reel. The Rod was custom made by one of our own members (Coloman). The rod is going to be put to good use once we get to the Catfish Expo 2009. :big_smile

The rod is 7 and a half foot long medium heavy action fiberglass.

The Reel is an Okuma CV45L Convector, it does look alot like the penn GTI.

I grow climbing roses in them pots but got maters in my garden out back. I haven't got my roses planted yet...lol

Those 2 reels you have are good reels, I looked at both of those at Academy and I liked both of them.
The wife is after me to take her fishing now....lol
I'm going to take her next weekend.

Charles, I don't mind if she out fishes me...lol As long as it makes her happy.
I'm getting a new rod made and going to put the same reel on mine when it's done.

I'm going to book a trip with one of our members so my wife can try out her new rod and reel.
Hopefully we can get that trip by next weekend.

Just a heads up. Not more than a month ago I tossed one of them reels in the James river. I had it for only 2 years with no abuse to it at all. Had one hell of a screamin run and it just flat out took a crap in the middle of the hook set. OH WELL! LOL!

You should have sent it to me BG,....lol
I would have taken it and fixed it.
The one I bought for the wife has a good warranty and I purchased an extended warranty from Okuma for 3 yrs. It was only $12.00 for 3 yrs.

Great looking reels. I'm glad to hear you speak highly of them. I like Okuma reels and have several but all are spinning models. I've been looking at the Convectors in magazines and on line but don't see whether or not they have bait clickers. Do they have bait clickers? If so, I'm buying a couple. Thanks for any advice.

Some of them do, the Convector does have a bait clicker on it.
I like it....feels like a good reel and has good smooth drag system also.
