I just bought a new Carolina Skiff 24dlx.
I looked at at the flat bottom and thought it was gonna be rough. It was actually about as smooth as my Deep V 19'er.
My wife liked this boat and i love the openness that it has on the deck.
    here are some pics

I've been looking at those. You say the ride isn't too bad. How rough was the water? The lakes I fish get rough sometimes, thats the only thing holden me of one.

James, same question, Have you had it on "ruff" water yet.
I'd heard the same, that skiffs were hard on ruff water.
Keep us posted and congrats on the new rig!

Congrats on your new Carolina Skiff. I have been recommending these boats for a while. Mine is a J-16, but it is perfect for our river fishing! I really like the textured no slip floor, and it's light weight. hard to beat as a fishin'/utility boat.

i took it out before i bought it in the Neches River. It was a small brackish river that had NO WAVES. But as we were headed back to the ramp, I saw a monster tug boat in the channel. I got behind him and ran across his wake some. It was not ruff at all doing that.
Today, me and the wife took it out in 20-25mph winds on the lake. It was whitecapping but not really bad (small lake just 7000 acres)
The boat did great, was not ruff at all. U felt vibration and u hear some waves slapping, but it just doesnt jar or bounce ya. It is actually about the same as my DEEP V on ride quality but does not pitch and roll like the old boat does.

BTW, it was a 5hr drive one way to get the boat, but i saved almost $6000.
They were WAY cheaper than anyone in this Texas, and we're a big state!
THe only dealership i found that was cheaper was Ed's Marine in VA.
