My gigantic smallmouth

    I posted this in the WV section, and I kind of just discovered that there's a bass fishing section, duh :roll_eyes:

    Anyways, I was 4-5 minutes away from my house fishing in Twelvepole Creek, and caught this smallie on a nightcrawler.

    Sorry for the horrid pictures. my buddy had a cell phone camera and that's all.

    I was down there without much gear, so I didn't have a scale or anything, but I wasn't about to let a huge fish like this die, so I just let her go.

    Real nice smallie,congrats on nice catch!!Nice to see you let it go.I think i woulda done the same without having a scale,but if i had a scale and it was a record or close to it,then it woulda went on the wall.......lol

    Yeah, the record smallie in WV was (depending on if you're going by length or weight) 9.5 lbs and 24 inches, or 7.5 lbs and 25 in. back in the 1970s according to our DNR. It's going to drive me crazy not knowing how much that thing weighed though...
