After getting stranded by my boat a mile up river from the boat launch at Lowden state park, we paddled back towards the ramp and stopped to fish a few times on the way. I landed my first flathead on a cut sucker head on a slip bobber, just under 10#...I was very happy to have caught him, gave me a great fight on my lite tackle rod. We also landed about 6 channels from the same area on shrimp, ranging from 2-6 #.
So in a way I'm glad the engine crapped out, as I don't think we would have stopped where we did if it had been running like normal!

    Good luck everyone,
    Philip

Good job on your first flathead, I didn't get to go out this weekend as my knee decided to balloon with gout. But hopefully I will get to hit the rock sometime this week or the weekend. And get my first Rock flathead.

Congrats. It's always cool to get a flatty, especially on light tackle. Did he twist and roll on you? They are so much fun.

    Chuck,
it really was a blast, everytime I'd get him next to the boat he'd take off straight down, I thought for sure he'd clip my line on the prop or anchor line.

Larry and David thanks for the props!
