My favorite catfish bait

    Gar liver? Unfortunately i've never heard of that being used as bait, it could work. Thanks for sharing.. if I ever get my hands on a gar i'll give it a try. Welcome to the BOC.

    I've also heard that cut bait from gar is a very good catfish bait. I know one fellow who actually eats gar. He says it has some of the finest looking meat. I'll pass.

    I have been having great luck with raw shrimp lately. Just leave it in the bed of the truck all day or overnight depending when you are going fishing. Used cut shad, cut gill, and bologna from the 5 pound chunk of it and shrimp killed em all.

    Another of my favorite Catfish baits: Free Dead fish from the bait, cigarette and liquor store. Marinaded in shad. I take the shad, shad sides, guts and dead bait Put it all in a jar or baggy and let em sit in the ice box for a day and BAM! Good for vacuum sealing or jar freezing.

    Had a close freind who cooked Gar & it was great! He's passed on now & regret i did'nt pay attention to exactly how he prepared it :embarassed:
