I took my wife and daughter fishing last night in the truman tailrace and lets just say that there was no shortage of idiots on the water, I had three bass boats put me in the middle their wakes, two of them on one side and one between us and the shore in a space of 15 feet, lets just say I enjoyed it more than they did. Bait was hard to come by for a little while but then found the mother load (thanks spoonfish) and then we went up to our spot in the middle of the channel and put out the anchor in 30 foot of water with plenty of current and then we baited up with cut shad on #10 circles with a #8 circles secondary using 8oz no-roll sinkers, We had the lines in for about 2 hours with just a couple small runs and then rebaited and then my daughter says I think I have a taker so she let the rod load up and started on bringing it in and so I grabbed the net and my wife grabbed the camera and my daughter was laughing so hard she had us just cracking up (priceless). We finaly got the fish in the boat and weighed it in the net at 32lbs and took some pictures and put her back in her world to give somebody else a catch of a life time. with the amount of current coming through the dam and 32lbs of fish made for a good battle for my daughter and that blue cat was the biggest fish she has ever caught, her prior biggest fish was a 2LB channel so it is safe to say she will be fishing with us again. fishing with your family is a great way to share nature and memories that will last a lifetime.
