Got a call last night from my chief bait handler, AKA my son. He was in the local ER after being hurt at work. They were pulling a water well pump to be replaced and something broke causing a rope to wrap around his forearm. The force and pressure caused "compartment syndrome". They kept him overnight and the orthopedic surgeon will decide this morning if surgery is going to be necessary. He was pretty out of it when I last talked to him as they set him up on a morphine pump for the pain.

Got to the hospital early this am, got to see the ortho Dr. when he came in. As it stands right now, he wants to hold off the surgery to see how/if the swelling goes down. Bait Boy has movement in his fingers, a terrible rope burn and is in intense pain. He'll probably be in the hospital until Saturday or Sunday is the Dr.'s guess. Thanks to all for the thoughts and prayers.

Well the Bait Boy is still at South Austin Hospital, he slated to be released tomorrow if he feels that he can go home. The Dr. came in this AM and after looking at the arm said that he thought that the swelling was going down to where he didn't think he was going to have to do surgery. He's still in quite a bit of pain but he's doing better each day. Dr. did let him have solid food this morning, something that he has not had since Wednesday morning, he was happy. The pain meds keep him kinda groggy and he naps often.

As of 830 last night he was still in the hospital with hopes that he will be discharged today sometime. He's ready to leave but I'm not sure the Dr's are in agreement about that. He's probably out of the woods as far as surgery, but a long rehab is a strong possibility.
