I went fishing today and caught several small
channels.I started getting a little disapointed
and then suddenly I saw a large snapper sticking his nose up at the surface about 30 feet from shore. With my three poles I threw cut blue gill,
chicken liver and on the third pole a big shrimp.
I was surprised that he didn't touch any one of them. After about 5 mins I got impatient and pulled
in the line that had the shrimp on it and put a chunk of deer meat on it. It was the first time that I've ever used it. I threw it to the same spot
and within a few seconds he hit it. I was thrilled when I pulled him to shore. He weighed 40 lbs topping my previous record of 35lbs. It felt great
guys! Just had to tell you all about it. :)

dang a 40 pound snapper nice job. Lol when nothing else works you gotta use your resources. Where you gonna eat the deer meat or just as bait? was it originally lunch.

The deer meat was raw. I had turkey sandwiches for lunch.

Thanks for the pics. I just now seen them. Looks like it was a pretty hefty turtle, and yes, they did come out good enough to see. Again, thanks.

Turtles generally aren't regarded well up here by most, but I find it a challenge when a good sized one gets it's claws into the river bottom and doesn't want to come ashore

I caught a 30 pound snapper once on the shallow end of a trotline. He managed to run a hook through the webbing of his front foot. I almost got my hand too close to him before I saw what he was. And I mean he was not a happy camper!
