I Ended Up Having Tuesday Off This Week, So I Decided To Make A Flathead Run
Down At The Alamo River. When I Got Down There It Was 106 Degrees But There
Was A Breeze Blowing Which Made It Tolerable. I Had Some 4-6 in. Tilapia For
Bait And The Flatheads Were On The Chew!!! I Didn't Catch Any Monsters, But I
Had Plenty Of Action. I Caught 9 Cats For A Total Weight Of 48lbs. The Largest
Was 13lbs. All Cats Were Released!!!.........See Ya

Nice report, nice flat. Nice to see the CPR of the fish. Nice to keep one for a fry once in awhile, but the thought of them growing to the 60+lb range makes ya wanna throw em back for next time.

4 sure Sean. Nice to keep one for the frier sometimes but also good to release as well. Don't want overpopulating. LOL. Release the small ones too I will throw a 2 pounder back in a minute a lot of times.

Hey Guys, I Like To Be On The Water Between 5-7pm. I Know It Can Be Really Hot
At This Time, But I Like To See Whether The Water Is Up Or Down, I Still Have Some
Light Left If I Have To Make Bait, And Maybe Most Important Of All, There Is A Mexican
Cafe In Calipatria That Makes A Killer Carne Asada Burrito, And They Close At 5pm. On
Weekdays. Depending On The Bite I'll Usually Head Home Between Midnight And 2am.

I had that burrito a few weeks ago. Dude that runs it is cool. We all had dinner there one evening while we were fishing. Its real close to a fishing spot too. The Chimichunga they have is the bombay.

Whats the name of the place? I have yet found a place to eat in calpat.
If it is the place I am thinking about it is called AGUYOS? nOT SURE IF IT IS SPELLED RIGHT but it is off of Eddins across from the circle K. Even if it is not the place mentioned the lady in there make good food and the prices are very reasonable.

When I head down that way I avoid the 111 because of the road working on the RV/Boat... Normally I take 86 because of my cruising speed....

Once in a while I come back 111 and a good food stop is hard to find....

You guys ever get to the New River and fish it?....

I did it at the crossing at Brawley mid day one time on my way to Yuma.

I'm Not Sure, But If You Are Coming From Niland, Make A Right At The 4-Way
Stop In Calipat. It Is On The Right Side In That First Block.

there are a couple pretty good places to eat around the area, it just depends on what you are in the mood for...as for fishing the new river, i never have...mainly due to the high levels of contamination in it...but i know people do fish in it and they say that there are huge fish in there....as for hwy.111, the state is working on repairing it to make it a lot smoother ride, ther is still a long way to go...hope this helps....T.
