motor shakes

    i have a 2002 25hp mercury and the motor shakes back inforth. the prop is in great shape and spins with no wobble, any ideas?

    here most definetly is something out of balance. If it is not the prop, it could be the spline in the hub of the lower unit, it could be damaged bearings/seals inside the lower unit, it could be some damage to the flywheel...but something is out of balance. Take your time and examine it very slow. I'd look more at a bent spline shaft coming out of the lower unit.

    could a bad steerin cable be the problem also and how many seals/bearings are in the lower unit and is it hard to do?

    Hard to do? Yep. I leave that for the pro's. But you should be able to tell if the shaft is bent.

    also make sure that the motor is tight on the transom
